This project works with the client’s need for ultimate staffing flexibility, the design solution works with a series of moveable partitions designed and fabricated by T&M. All inspired by a turn-of-the-century invention - mechanical shelving systems - the units take on a midcentury futuristic aesthetic, all while respecting their 'kit of parts' simplistic nature. The fabrication incorporated the mechanical bones of the expandable shelving system, all perfectly fitted within an inlayed floor track. The room is able to expand and contract as necessary with the simple rotation of an integrated crank.
